Last night were the performances for R&B week. Lee DeWyze’s performance of “Treat Her Like A Lady” was my favorite from the night. My other favorite performance was when Crystal Bowersox traded in her guitar for a piano to sing “Midnight Train To Georgia.” Even though I previously said I will keep my posts short by only writing about my two favorite performances each week, I have to give honorable mentions to Andrew Garcia and Michael Lynche.

Starting today, to keep my posts shorter, I am going to do my best to only write about my top two favorite performances each week.
Last night were the performances for Billboard #1′s week. Even though I didn’t feel this week had as many strong performances compared to last week, Crystal Bowersox stood out when she sang Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee” while standing on a rug. Even though he had laryngitis, Aaron Kelly is starting to look like a front-runner after his performance of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.”

This past Friday night on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” eight audience members were divided into two groups to write and perform a song as a band. Meeting for the first time, the impromptu bands were given about twenty minutes to prepare. Oddly enough, the two songs that were created actually did not sound too bad. The first song, called “Amnesia,” could become an Internet sensation similar to “Pants On The Ground.” The second song, called “Doin’ It Late Night,” was a combination of comedy and a nice hook.

Last night were the performances for The Rolling Stones week. I thought one of the best performances was when Crystal Bowersox closed the show by singing one of my favorite Rolling Stones songs, “You can’t Always Get What You Want.” I really enjoyed Lee DeWyze’s version of “Beast Of Burden,” as he sounded like a nice combination of Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp. Siobhan Magnus reminded me of Adam Lambert as she performed a dramatic version of “Paint It Black,” ending with a long screaming note. Didi Benami also had a dramatic performance as she sang “Play With Fire.” Aaron Kelly and Michael Lynch also had performances that I enjoyed.

The top twelve contestants will perform tonight on the big stage as Season 9 of “American Idol” begins.
My prediction is Crystal Bowersox and Michael Lynche will end up as the final two contestants. Not only does Michael have a great voice, but he has the story of becoming a father during Hollywood Week that won over many fans. Crystal, on the other hand, has the experience from performing on the streets and knows who she is as an artist. I feel Crystal has the hunger and talent to win the entire show this season.
